Official Social Media Handle of the Forum for Democratic change -FDC has been hacked by online scammers for a period of over 3 hours as the Najjanankumbi based political party struggled to regain access.
The handle was hacked in by online scammers who used it to promote their NFT with an aim of stealing information and money from FDC followers through crypto scams.
In one of the messages shared, the hackers were posting announcing how they had opened an additional allow list to help people make gains from OpenSea. They claimed to be in conjunction with famous celebrity – actress JP, including their scam link in the tweet.
“Proud to announce that we’re opening additional allowlist for everyone to celebrate top 10 trending on OpenSea! We will also work with one of the most famous actress in JP to make CS come to life. We’re just starting,” a Tweet read.
The handlers changed its display name but did not change the username allowing the page to retain its blue badge verification.
FDC has already gained access to their Twitter handle and have deleted the inappropriate content that was shared there.
FDC Deputy General Secretary Harlod Kaija acknowledged the unguaranteed access to the party’s handle and went ahead to boast about their smart IT team that helped gain access to the account.
“Last night some unknown person hacked in to the @FDCOfficial1 and denied us access. For some hours it had its names changed. Our super IT Team fought and rescued it. Sorry for any incontinence caused.” Said Kaija.
The Hackers are known as SMEJI NFT who are promoting a crypto that is taken by many as SCAM.
