Portuguese Primiera Liga club F.C Arouca yesterday unveiled its new signing a Ugandan Midfielder Mustafa Kizza who last played for CF Montreal on a free transfer.
Kizza was given a 3 year contract by the Portuguese club who seek to seal their position in the Portuguese Primiera Liga having been promoted to the 1st division for the in the 2020/2021 season after a 4 year absense.
The 22 year old defender started his senior career in KCCA FC in 2017 and managed to play 70 games for the club with 11 goals. He then joined the Canadian team Impact Montreal known officially as CF Montreal which competes in the Major League Soccer in July 2020.
CF Montreal failed to extend his contract after the 2021 season, having capped for them 20 times. He kept training with KCCA FC before getting sported by the European Club which plays in one of Top Six European Leagues.
Upon being unveiled in FC. Arouca, Kizza promised to work hard for the club to see the club realizing results.
“For this season I just want to work hard, play and get to know the team so we can get positive performances. Then the results will appear. But the main focus will always be to help the team” Kizza said.
He expressed his gratitude towards his former club KCCA FC who allowed him to keep training with the club keeping his fitness and his agent.
Mustafa Kizza has internationally represented Uganda at three levels. Under 20, Under 23 and he debuted for the Uganda Senior Men’s National Football Team on 1 June 2019 in Uganda Vs Lesotho COSAFA Cup. He has made a total of 14 appearances for the Uganda Cranes scoring 4 goals for his country.
Founded in 1951 in Arouca, Porto Metropolitan – Portugal, FC Arouca has been playing its games in lower leagues of Portugal Football System until the 2012/2013 season when they were promoted to Primiera Liga. They played their first season European game in the 2016/2017 in UEFA Europa League after finishing 5th on the table in the previous season.
