Carlo Ancelotti returns to Real Madrid as head coach

Published on

Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti has left Merseyside club Everton to join Real Madrid for the second stint.

The Italian succeeds Zinedine Zidane who had come back for a second reign at the Capital side but his second tenure didn’t go well, having managed successive successes in champions league in the first tenure.

Ancelotti penned a three year contract at the Los Blancos. This the three time champions league winning coach had to say….

“I have complete respect for everyone associated with Everton and hope they can achieve the exciting opportunities they have in front of them.

“While I have enjoyed being at Everton, I have been presented with an unexpected opportunity which I believe is the right move for me and my family at this time.”

Real Madrid finished second on the La Liga table with 84 points, two adrift of champions Atletico Madrid and didn’t win any silverware last season.

At Real Madrid, he’s faced with assembling a new rejuvenated side, building a new squad after the current is aged. The likes of Luca Modric, Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Tonny Kroos and so on need replacements at the same time the bosses will be demanding for trophies.

At his former employer Everton, Steven Gerrard is said to be Ancelloti’s replacement. The former England and Liverpool midfielder guided Rangers to Scottish Premier League Championship unbeaten.

If he’s appointed Everton’s next manager, Gerrard will become the Toffee’s sixth in the last five years.
