Catalan Club Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Dutchman Memphis Depay on a free transfer deal.
The Ronald Koeman coached side have on their third attempt lured the services of the 27 year old and will join them after his contract with French side Lyon expires at the end of June.
Barcelona first attempted to sign Depay last summer with a €25M deal agreed but because the club had a La Liga wage cap imposed on them, they could not have the star signed. Still in January, Barcelona tried on their second attempt but because they had no president, they had no one to sanction the deal.
He’s now tasked with beating competition from Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, Phillips Coutinho,Francisco Trincao, Martin Braithwaite and Anyoinne Griezman.
Depay is Barcelona’s fifth signing after the already acquired signatures of Sergio Aguero, Emerson Royal and Eric Garcia
