Atletico Madrid wins the Spanish La Liga for 11th Time

Atletico de Madrid has managed to beat rivals Real Madrid in a close title chase to win the 11th Spanish La Liga title after defeating Valladolid with 2 – 1.

This is the second time Atletico Madrid breaks the La Liga Oligopoly of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the last 10 years.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla alongside Champions Atletico secured Champions League positions while once table leaders Real Sociedad and Real Betis secure Europa League positions while Villarreal secure a position in the newly created Europa Conference Cup should they fail to win the Europa Cup where they will play Manchester United on the final.

In Matches played earlier, German Bundesliga became the first of the 5 big European Leagues to be concluded with Bayern being crowned Champions a trophy they won weeks back. Red Bull Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg alongside winners, Bayern, securing Champions League positions. Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen secured Europa League spots while Union Berlin will play in the UEFA Conference League.

Robert Lewandowski becomes Bundesliga’s highest scoring player in one season after surpassing Gerd Müller’s half a century record. Lewandowski scored his 41st goal in today’s game against Augsburg in the 90th Minute.
