President Yoweri Museveni arrived in Nairobi today for a bilateral meeting with President Uhuru

President Yoweri Museveni arrived in Nairobi today for a bilateral meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the route of the pipeline to take Uganda’s oil reserves in Lake Albert on the Congo border to the coast for export.
Tanzania is pushing Uganda to route the pipeline to Tanga although Uganda had agreed to take it to Lamu. In a communiqué issued after President Kenyatta’s State Visit to Uganda last August, the two leaders said the development of a crude oil export pipeline needed to be implemented expeditiously to avoid any further delay in commercializing especially Uganda’s petroleum resources which were discovered nine years ago.
The two leaders may also discuss Migingo. Kenyan surveyors believe Migingo Island is half a kilometre inside Kenya, according to a report by the Defence and Foreign Relations committee of the National Assembly tabled last Thursday after two years of enquiry. The island has been at the center of dispute between Ugandan and Kenyan security officials.
