FDC Withdraws its candidate in Gogonyo By elections; Rallies behind NUP’s Okoboi Joseph Opolot

The collaboration between Forces of Change parties is continuing to grow stronger as the two combine forces against the ruling National Resistance Movement.

Barely a week after the hotly contested Soroti City East bi elections where the National Unity Platform NUP joined hands with Forum for Democratic Change – NUP to support FDC’s candidate Attani Nathan, FDC is now returning the favor.

FDC has announced that is has withdrawn its candidate and will support NUP’s Okoboi Joseph Opolot for the Gogonyo County by elections.

“We wish to thank the NUP for the support and solidarity exhibited in the Just concluded ‘by-election’ of Soroti East, which we strongly state that we won massively! Therefore, following the collaboration between us and NUP

“We have deliberately withdrawn our candidate to offer support to Okoboi Joseph Opolot the NUP candidate in the Gogonyo county by election in Pallisa district due to take place on 11th August 2022.”

Okoboi Joseph Opoloti was nominated yesterday following a two day exercise by the electoral commission to nominate candidates for Gogonyo County and Bukimbiri county by elections.

He will wrestle for the seat with National Resistance Movement Candidate Derrick Orone who was also nominated yesterday.

Opposition supporters have been longing for unity among major opposition parties if they are to stand a chance to overcome NRM’s power.

Gogonyo elections will be held on August 11, 2022.
