State House Cautions RDCs Upon Issuing Travel Permits

State house has cautioned Resident District Commissioners RDCs against facilitating public movements across districts in disregard of the presidential directives aimed at combating the spread of covid-19.

In his June 6 address, President Museveni announced a ban on public and private transport across districts. This was to take effect on 10th/06/2021 to facilitate the return of school children to their homes.

It has however come to attention of the authorities that some people traveling have been using some unauthorised travel permits reportedly issued by RDCs.

This has prompted Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Kirunda Faruk to issue a warning that the officials impe reprimanded.

‘‘RDCs all over the country are warned against issuing travel passes to the public. Whoever is issuing them is doing it illegally and will be prosecuted once arrested.’’ Kirundi said.

Kirunda also warned the police officers who provide security at burial ceremonies and other public functions attended by more than authorised by the president.

President museveni suspended all Public and cultural gatherings including conferences for 42 days across the country as a way of controlling the spread of the second wave of Coronavirus. The schools and institutions of high learning have also been closed for 42 days effective from today June 2021 at 8:00am.

Museveni directed that all religious institutions including churches and mosques should suspend their activities that bring together gatherings for a period of 42 days as government monitors the situation.

However Marriage ceremonies and social gatherings are banned except for 20 people only

Also persons at burial should not exceed 20 people

For purposes of travel for specialized health emergencies, Kirunda said that district government health facilities are mandated to write for the patient and also provide medical personnel to escort them to another referral hospital.

Mr. Kirunda however noted that the government has equipped its staff on how to handle most emergencies for purposes of managing public moverments caused by health emergency situtations
