Just a day after the harmonizing of relations between Democratic Party (DP) and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). Norbert Mao head of Democratic Party has been appointed the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs a position that has been vacant since 2021 Cabinet appointment.
Norbert Mao’s appointment comes just a day after he met President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and signed a cooperation agreement between NRM and DP.
Norbert Mao has been the head of Democratic Party since 2010, a prolific orator; Mao has been a strong critic of National Resistance Movement and the President Museveni until of recent when he started attacking fellow opposition leaders especially those from National Unity Platform.
By virtue of the authority conferred on the President by Articles 113(1) and 114 (1) of the 1995 constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby appoint persons below as Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State. pic.twitter.com/DZbtNX8HxG

Other changes in cabinet include Hamson Dennis Obua who has been the State Minister for Sports was appointed as the Government Chief Whip a position that was previously occupied by Thomas Tayebwa who was elected Deputy Speaker in March 2022.
Hon. Akello Beatrice Akori who is the Woman MP Agago District was appointed as the Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the office of the President. Hon. Ogwang Peter who was occupying this ministerial office was appointed as Minister of State for Education and Sports.
