Uganda Police have confirmed the arrest of the Nigerian artist Omah Lay following his performance at Speke Resort Munyonyo with a fellow Nigerian artist Tems.
Omah Lay was arrested by Katwe Police after organizing a successful concert that was against the regulations set by the President of Uganda and Ministry of Health to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Concerts in Uganda were stopped by the government in March this year and all events in Uganda were cancelled.
Ugandan artists on social media reacted strongly asking the government why they deny their own and let foreign artists perform.
The Deputy Spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police Dan Owoyesigire has confirmed the arrest of the artist, Ddungu Ivan who is the manager of the venue and Prim Kasana who organized the event.
