Twitter account belonging to imprisoned writer and government critic Kakwenza Rukirabashaija has been deactivated and cannot be traced on Twitter.
Kakwenza’s Twitter handle which had over 8000 followers became inaccessible two weeks after he was picked from his by Security Operatives who later kept in UPDF safe chambers where he was allegedly tortured according to his lawyer.
Kakwenza who currently has no access to a smartphone or computer could likely not be the one who deactivated the account and neither does the display message on his account “this account doesn’t exist) link Twitter to be responsible for its suspension.
This has led to his fans to speculating that security operatives forced him to avail to them his login details and ended up deleting his account or forced him to delete his account.
Kakwenza was arrested for calling the first son Lt General Muhoozi Kainerugba ‘Obese’ and was taken by security operatives who broke in his home on 28th December 2021.
He was kept in unknown location despite two court orders calling for his unconditional release.
On Tuesday 11th January 2022, Kakwenza was produced in court on orders of the court in absence of his lawyers and was remanded to Kitalya Prison.
His Facebook account however remains active and all content posted there is still accessible.
