Mps Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya denied bail

Opposition MPs Allan Ssewanyana and Muhammad Ssegirinya have been denied bail by the Masaka High court.

The Judge revealed that the pair cannot he granted bail amidst the terror charges and investigations going on with them.

The two were sent behind bars late last month after allegations that they were the masterminds of the Masaka killings that claimed tens of people.

Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya had all been granted bail some time back but were rearrested on different days as they made it out of the prison gates.

Ssegirinya who has a rotting foot has been pleading to have him released so that he can get advanced medical attention but this has not been made possible.

Meanwhile a number of Ugandans on social media have expressed their disappointment in this ruling saying that it was President Museveni’s influence that denied the MPs bail.

This was after the President recently proposed the scrapping of bail for murder suspects.

“Congratulations CARDER judges and MUSEVEN JUDICIARY.”

“Please no court can deny bail museven has denied . not ok Ugandans bail! The whole institutions in museven’s!”

“Order from above”

“Not true, although real. Masaka High Court takes in the state pressure to deny bail to an applicant ~ the bill is active.
There is an African (Luo) proverb, “a pawpaw will hit the head of the eater one time”

“This country is nolonger on the rule of the law …we are now under decree …so we have to stop the pretenses of going to courts.”

“No condition is permanent, those are orders from above, no wonder.”
