President of the National Unity Platform Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has mourned former Minister of Security General Elly Tumwine who passed away today morning in Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.
In his message Bobi Wine used the well known Christian Bible Scripture which says that “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return” Gen: 3: 19 to express his feelings.
The verse is interpreted to mean that we are all mortal and we shall all die with its further interpretation taken to mean that we all need to be humble.
“This simply means that, if and when the breath from God leaves, whatever remains is but dust and goes back to dust. This calls us to humility and utter dependence on God in Whom alone we live and move and have our being” is a further explanation about the verse in Quinquagesima Sunday: a popular bible interpretation blog.

Bobi Wine and General Elly Tumwine have been on logger heads ever since Bobi Wine entered politics as Member of Parliament Kyadondo East with the latter being Minister of Security.
In 2018 after being asked by Hon. Rebecca Kadaga then speaker of parliament why security is stopping concerts and shows of Musician and Legislator Bobi Wine, Gen. Elly Tumwine minister of Security then said that Bobi Wine had failed to balance music and politics terming his entry into Uganda politics ‘an occupational hazard’.
Another popular scenario is the 2020 Kampala riots when Bobi Wine supporters were protesting against arrest of Bobi Wine amidst presidential campaigns.
Security operatives killed 104 protesters in Kampala and the Minister of Security Tumwine appeared on the cameras defending the killing of rioters with his infamous words ‘The Police has a right to shoot you and kill you’.
Bobi Wine eulogy comes amidst other condolence messages from various dignitaries including the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Annet Among and many others.
Anita Among described him as a Ugandan hero, a liberator and a legislator who will be greatly missed.
“It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing on of our elder, liberation Hero, Long-serving Legislator, and Former Security Minister Gen Elly Tumwine” Anita said.
Details about burial arrangements, public viewing and everything else will be communicated later.
