Its April 3, 2016, people in Japan woke up very excited and happy, ready to celebrate the penis festival. The day happens once a year as in Japan. Each Spring, people go to Kawasaki, Japan to Celebrate Kanamara Matsuri aka the Festival of the Steel Phallus. Much as the dates vary, but it always happens in the first week of April especially on the first Sunday. This year, the Penis day was today on 3rd.
Women, men, children all go to streets and parade the penis shaped portable shrines down the streets as the revelers such the penis lollipops, the buy penis-shaped items and pose with the sculptures in the shape of a penis. All done to celebrate the most important creature of the penis
The ceremony is said to be having roots back in the 17th Century when the prostitutes would pray for protection from sexually transmitted diseases. And now the Penis festival is celebrated as they collect money to fund the HIV/AIDS research.
