Following the public outcry over the mistreatment and working conditions of workers in Saudi Arabia, the Government has issued a statement banning the recruitment of domestic workers who are being taken to Saudi Arabia.
A few days ago, an audio started circulating having girls explaining how they are being mistreated in Saudi Arabia explaining how they are being mistreated denied access to phones and not even paid after being used to work. After various celebrities including Juliana Kanyomozi, Benon Mugumbya, Eddy Kenzo and many others shared the audio calling for the government intervention, the Government had finally spoken out.
Through the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the government has said that they have reviewed the working conditions in those countries and banned the recruitment of domestic workers. Below is the copy of the Government statement.
