With Universities deciding their fate, Nkumba University opted for an FDC president just like Kyambogo University and MUBS Nakawa earlier on voted FDC’s Lawrence Lugaravu and Matovu Jorum Alvin respectively, Nkumba also easily voted 23 year old Law student Byansi Henry.
The loss by NRM at Nkumba University adds clarity about NRM’s unpopularity among Universities with prestigious Makerere University voting an independent candidate in Mwota instead of NRM candidate.
At Nkumba Henry Byansi won the race with 59.1%, independent candidate Mugambwa Derrick came second with 34.6% while NRM’s Noble Nahurira came distant last with 7.3%.
