National Unity Platform (NUP) principal and former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has come out to demand the authorities holding his foe Charles Olim aka Sipapa to produce him before court.
With all the ills that Sipapa had subjected Bobi Wine’s camp to, the Fire base boss would be the last to question the controversial socialite’s whereabouts.
Kyagulanyi has however proved that to be a leader, inclusivity should be one of your strengths.
Last year Sipapa attacked Bobi Wine’s camp in Kamwokya and fired bullets among the bystanders almost injuring some of them.
By then, Sipapa who had been an ally of the Kamwokya based camp had crossed to the ruling NRM where he was enjoying unlimited previleges.
Sipapa also came out to make fun of Bobi Wine a few months ago when URA impounded Bobi Wine’s armoured car.
The socialite wondered how someone who cannot clear his taxes had dreamt of ruling an entire nation with rich people like him (Sipapa).
He went ahead to advise URA that if Bobi Wine couldn’t afford his taxes, they should sell the car to him.
Bobi Wine put all that behind him and demanded that Sipapa be produced before courts of law to get a free and fair hearing.
This was after Sipapa was picked from Makindye a few weeks ago and sent behind bars at SID Kireka.
His lawyers have failed to access him and have not been provided an official reason on why he’s behind bars.
It is however rumored that he was arrested on charges of illegal gun possession.
The former Kyadondo east legislator added that Sipapa was another victim of the government’s ‘method of use and dump’.
“That said I’m calling for Sipapa’s production in court so that he faces his charges before a competent court. Like all citizens, he is entitled to a free and fair trial even if he rejoiced when others were being unlawfully arrested and tortured.” Bobi Wine posted on his Facebook page.
He was however adamant that Sipapa would learn and change his behavior once released.
Bobi Wine maintained that these people never learn from their mistakes even when it’s clear that the government is using them.
They keep on siding with the oppressor to suppress the population which would have embraced then in such trying times.
He however asserted that it was their obligation as citizens to demand that the rule of law be followed.
