Local singer Deus Ndugwa aka Grenade Official has come out to air his opinions about music competition on the African continent.
The Nkuloga singer made the comments while appearing on NBS after 5 program alongside Lydia Jasmine with whom he’s promoting their collaboration titled Feeling.
The singer who burst onto the scene a few years ago feels like Ugandan musicians have what it takes to make it big on the Continental stage.
However this can only be done if they work on the few aspects he feels Nigerians and Tanzanians have mastered.
The singer also added about he has a dream of one day winning a Grammys award.
“I have a dream of bringing a Grammys to Uganda because no one has done it yet. Besides the likes of Wizkids and Diamond Platinumzs are not better than us in many aspects. So we just need to believe in ourselves.” Grenade said.
Grenade also added that disunity among Ugandan musicians has failed them to hit the global stage.
This is a trait that has been synonymous with local entertainers with most of them beefing each other instead of working together.
This is unlike other countries such as Nigerians who have mastered the art of pushing each other’s works in the entertainment industry.
