“Do not recognise Mr. Museveni as the elected president of Uganda” Activists petition to Obama

Published on

A group of Ugandans led by Mweine Tibifumurwa have petitioned to the American President Barack Obama not to recognize Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the elect president to run Uganda from 2016-2021.
Via the world’s most famous petitioning platform Change.org Ugandans have petitioned and expect Obama to react otherwise. Ugandans used the photo of Besigye battling with the police an indication the election was not free and fair.
Here is the message alongside the petition page.
“The elections were not free and fair! They were characterised by police brutality and vote rigging. Although Mr. Museveni did all that, Ugandans overwhelmingly voted for Dr. Kiiza Besigye, But the Electoral Commission declared results that were completely different from those got at the polling stations! Therefore, we request that before Mr. Museveni is recognized as Uganda’s elected president; All the votes should be recounted by an independent commission to get the actual results!”
Its via this very same website Change.org that Activists petitioned to the government of America to deny the Ugandan Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa Visa when he was going to attend the UN General Assembly the very same day we was to be announced the President of the Assembly. They wanted him to be denied a visa because he has supported the Anti Gay bill which activists said was denying people their rights. They collected more than 15,000 signatures but the petition wasn’t considered.
So far 848 signatures have been collected at the time of writing and more signatures are expected as the link is being taken all over social media.
