Hammis Kiggundu of Ham Enterprises Limited has shared the progress of Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium which has been under construction since 2017 after it was demolished in 2015.
Ugandans have been complaining about the sluggish speed that has been used to construct the stadium in comparison with the speed that was used to construct the mall, Ham Shopping Grounds that surrounds it.
The current progress shows work being done on stands/pavilion however the progress seem below 50% which has left many people disappointed.
Nakivubo was opened in 1926 then reconstructed in 1954. In 2015, the stadium alongside the parkyard market was demolished for construction to construct a modern stadium with a parking lot as per FUFA requirements.
The construction of the reconstruction of the stadium is being done by ROCO Construction Company supervised by Ham Enterprises Limited and will see the stadium increase its sitting capacity from 30000 to 35000 with the construction cost estimated at US$ 49 Million.
