Hima Cement suspends operations following factory fire that claimed 3

Fire gutted the Hima Cement Factory in Kasese yesterday at noon time which caused the death of 3 workers.

According to the company statement the fire came as the team was doing installations on the Light Diesel Oil Tank. The company however promised to continue investing the real cause of fire.

“On Saturday, 15th January, 2022 at about 12.30 pm, a fire broke out at our Hima Plant in Kasese – which unfortunately led to the death of three of our colleagues. Our deepest sympathies are with their families and friends of the deceased” Hima said in a statement.

Hima Cement as a response has suspended all operations at the plant as the company audits the cause of fire.

“Our operations at the Hima Plant have been stopped as we take stock of this incident and to ensure that that the fire is fully contained. The Health and Safety of our employees and all stakeholders remains our number one priority” the statement said.
