The economist, public speaker and analyst has come up and said that Dr Kizza Besigye did not win the 2016 elections. The CEO Independent Magazine said that Kizza Besigye won the propaganda and successfully shaped the perception of the outcome in the eyes of the public.
Andrew Mwenda said this on his Facebook page before he started exchanging words with angry supporters of Kizza Besigye who have resorted to attacking whoever says anything negative towards Dr. Kizza Besigye or anything positive towards President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
However Andrew Mwenda emphasized on his point despite the abuses and he asked FDC supporters to bring facts not abuses in the argument. “The tendency of FDC supporters using insult as a weapon to argue their case reflects lack of confidence in the strength of their arguments” said Mr Andrew Mwenda “FDC supporters think they can insult their way out of arguments. You can’t win an argument with insult but by counter argument.”
Andrew Mwenda brought various points in his arguments including the fact of NRM having won in 98 districts as FDC won in only 14 plus the NRM having 280 MPs and 80 district LC5 Chairpersons as opposed to the FDCs 36 MPs and 04 LC5 Chairpersons.
After too many arguments from FDC supporters all rotating around the fact that the votes were rigged, Andrew Mwenda commented that at this time, FDC as a party should be having a mechanism to protect its votes and if it cannot protect its votes in after all these years of existence then they cannot protect Ugandans given a chance.
