Atuhirwe Carol has been battling with throat cancer for 5 years and the hopes of her living still hangs in balance as she is supposed to get treatment in the US in the next two weeks upon raising 270 Uganda million shillings that is 80,000 US dollars.
Several volunteers have come up to fund-raise money to aid her treatment in the US. Most notable recently she has been visited by Nince Henry, a singer and writer plus the city celebrity Pharouk Ssempala and Faridah Nakazibwe. Other volunteers have come up with car wash charities to raise money. While others have been sending money via Mobile Money and the Bank accounts. On Saturday 23rd this month it will be a car wash going to be at PANAMERA opposite Kampala parents do a CAR WASH aimed at raising money for the operation in the US.
Amidst this she has always kept a smile on her face and it didn’t go unnoticed today as the Makerere Uniersity Business School- MUBS BHRM year one students visited Carol at home in Salama Gaba Road off Mwanje stage where she is currently receiving basic treatment with some money raised through the class aimed at aiding her treatment in the US.
Her situation currently is not any good that you would want anyone to be in.
Carol takes her meals through the tube and doesn’t Speak. The only way she communicates is through her strong smile and she can text as well. There are hopes that if 270 million Uganda shillings is got and goes for treatment in the US, she can live and recover her throat and be able to talk again.
Carol needs life as much as everyone does.
