The state minister for general duties in the ministry of health, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, says government will meet the cost of treating 400 cancer patients at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi. Dr. Baryomunsi made the comments on the floor of Parliament while responding to concerns by Members of Parliament.
The government’s response follows an offer from the Aga Khan hospital to treat 400 Ugandan Cancer Patients in this period when the radiotherapy equipment fin the Uganda Cancer Institute broke down.
The Minister of Healthy Dr Elioda Tumwesigye yesterday said that Government has agreed to give in 30 Billion Ugandan Shillings that is needed for the construction of the bunker- a house that harbors the Radiotherapy Machine. And he added that construction will last for 6 months.
