President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will today 22rd/09/2021 address the Nation on COVID-19 situation and related issues.
The address is set for 8pm and will be live on all Television and Radio Stations.
He is expected to address the long standing issue of a closed education and religious sector and outline new lock-down measures plus a vaccination plan.
It should be noted that Uganda remains the only East African country that has not reopened learning institutions since president Museveni implemented the second lockdown which left all schools shutdown due to fear of new surge in COVID-19 cases.
According to the ministry of education and sports, before the announcement official school reopening program dates it had targeted to at least have vaccinated 550,000 teachers
So far vaccinated 269,445 (49 percent) teachers have received their first jab and 96,653 teachers (17.6%) have received their second jab since the vaccination program started according to the Ministry of Health data base as on 20th/09/2021
