Uganda Police Force has arrested 4 people who are suspected to have been involved in a case of kidnapping a 4 year old child which happened on August 02, 2021 in Wamala, Nansana.
The kidnapped child is identified as Simon Ssenyonjo a son of Mudiima Kityo who is a proprietor in Wamala trading center.
The arrested include Katongole Hakim a resident of Wamala, Mawanda James and Julius Ssenyonjo who are Boda Boda cyclists at Wamala Ttaba stage in Nansana Municipality and Asiimwe Anne Maria from Busabala B Village in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality.
The kidnappers asked for a ransom of UGX 50M from the parents of the child however the father managed to raise UGX 3M which he deposited on suspect’s phone number as he engaged security operatives who started tracking the suspects.
The suspects were arrested yesterday on August 5, 2021 after three days of search.
Upon the arrest, the suspects were found in possession with a motorcycle number UFH 412D which belongs to one of the suspects Ssenyonjo Julius that was allegedly used to transport the kidnapped child.
“An operation was mounted yesterday and suspects identified as Katongole Hakim, Mawanda James and Asiimwe Anna Maria from Busabala B village, Makindye Division, were arrested and victim rescued,” Said the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire in a statement.
The child has been handed over to the family while the suspects will be arraigned in courts of law on charges of kidnap.
